Poland has caught up the average European level in the beer consumption which in 2006 amounted to 85-86 liters per person annually. It was thanks to record sales in 2006. According to the data published by Browary Polskie, the association of beer industry employers’, in 2006, beer sales in Poland rose 7.2 percent to 32.5m hl. In 2005, it was slightly above 30m hl.

“There were three reasons for this: quick economic growth and increase in wealth, good weather and world football championships”, Pawel Sudol, Browary Polskie CEO enumerated.

He expects that this year the increase will not be as big as last year.

“We will be really satisfied if it amounts to 2-3 percent,”, Pawel Sudol said.

Kompania Piwowarska strengthened its leading position in Poland last year. Its market share rose to 38.3 percent. Zywiec had 33 percent of the market while Carlsberg 14 percent.
