Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Unemployment keeps growing, sales are falling. The National Bank of Poland makes the biggest interest rate cut in six years.

Starting today, the main interest rate in Poland amounts to 5 percent. The cut by 75 base points was a surprise to analysts who had expected a lower decrease. This is the biggest cut since January 2002 when the rates dropped from 11.5 to 10 percent.

“This is a response to quickly ongoing economic slowdown in Poland with no inflation threat”, Maja Goettig, Bank BPH chief economist commented.
