Citizens’ Platform (PO) had a general plan to change the media in Poland radically. Time has come to present some details.
“Media must be split from politics. A suitable law may be ready in three months at the earliest, however”, Jan Dworak, former TVP CEO and the founder of PO program for media said.
The plans concerning TVP, the state-owned TV broadcaster, are the most radical ones. Privatization is taken into account.
“We must consider whether to keep the giant company in its present shape. It may be that listing TVP will make it more public for the viewers”, Iwona Sledzinska-Katarasinska, who co-wrote the media program of PO said.
“TVP privatization is a popular option at PO but it’s still an issue to be discussed”, Arkadiusz Rybicki from PO added.
PO wants to implement the program of digital TV.
Besides, the winning party would like to get rid of the national council for
radio and television. Some of them would like to abolish it but others would
like to shift its competences to the Council for Electronic Communications.
