Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Komputronik buys Karen Notebook outlets. Action is also about to acquire its rival. The consolidation of the distributors of IT equipment fastens its pace.

Yesterday, Komputronik said that it had signed a letter of intent to buy a majority stake of Karen Notebook, a distributor owned by Techmex. Komputronik wants to control 52.4 percent of Karen Notebook. It is buying 7m shares and 7m preemptive rights which will give it the right to buy 21m shares of the company. The transaction will amount to PLN 49.5m (EUR 13.9m). In order to finance the acquisition, Komputronik is going to issue shares offered to chosen investors.

“Thanks to the acquisition, Komputronik wants to become the biggest network of specialized shops with IT and electronics”, Wojciech Buczkowski, Komputronik CEO said.

Today, it has 190 shops while Karen Notebook has 111, Vobis 165 and Sferis owned by rival Action group 52.

“The acquisition of Karen Notebook by Komputronik shows that the market consolidates. This is a good sign for distributors because this means higher margins for them”, Piotr Bielinski, Action deputy CEO said.

He adds that Sferis is going to increase the number of shops to 120-130 at the year-end.

“Provided that we complete the acquisition we are working on. I hope we will soon finalize the transaction of acquiring a network of outlets. In the future, the company will be listed. It will happen when it has 200-250 shops”, Piotr Bielinski believed.

AB a listed distributor with a retail network Alsen, is also not afraid of the acquisition.

“The acquisition should not threaten the two biggest IT distributors listed on the WSE. Action and AB win because they have bigger market presence, size and sales”, Konrad Ksiezopolski, DM Millennium analyst believed.
