Donbas wants to buy Przyjazn coke producer

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Donbas, the Ukrainian steel producer, which has been trying for a year now to acquire Huta Czestochowa steel plant and is interested in WRJ pipe producer, would also like to buy Przyjazn coke producer. ‘When we only learnt that PKP railway company want to sell their stake in Przyjazn, we sent a letter of intent.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Donbas, the Ukrainian steel producer, which has been trying for a year now to acquire Huta Czestochowa steel plant and is interested in WRJ pipe producer, would also like to buy Przyjazn coke producer. ‘When we only learnt that PKP railway company want to sell their stake in Przyjazn, we sent a letter of intent. We are ready for talks’, Konstanty Litwinow, Donbas representative said. PKP has a 37 percent stake, and – according to “Puls Biznesu” source, the company will sell it soon. The stake may be worth over PLN 600 m (EUR 148.8 m).

JSW, coal producer and the biggest shareholder in Przyjazn is also interested in the stake. Leszek Jarno, JSW CEO refused to comment whether the company has funds for the acquisition. Meanwhile, the Treasury Ministry, plans to create coal-coke holding comprising of Przyjazn, and plants in Zabrze and Walbrzych. The holding is to be built in the middle of this year. ‘If Donbas buys the stake in Przyjazn, it may put the plans in question’, Janusz Olszowski, the CEO of the coal industrial and trade chamber.
