Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Getin, Fortis or Apollo – these companies want to employ Jacek Oblekowski, the ex-deputy CEO of PKO BP.

Apollo Real Estate Advisors, one of world’s biggest investment funds, considers launching operations in Poland.

“The fund would like to build a new bank which would operate in the retail segment generating the biggest growth today”, “PB” sources from one of London’s consulting companies said.

Apollo will launch operations if it finds suitable people to manage them. The company negotiates with Wojciech Sobieraj and Jacek Oblekowski. The first one was once Bank BPH deputy CEO who built its success on the retail market. The second one left from PKO BP this year where he was deputy CEO responsible for the bank’s best results in the history as far as the retail market is concerned. Wojciech Sobieraj was not accessible. Jacek Oblekowski denied to comment.

However, Apollo’s offer may be the reason why he refused the other offers. There are at least two of them. One offer was made by Leszek Czarnecki controlling Getin Holding. Jacek Oblekowski would become the deputy CEO responsible for retail banking there. The second offer was made by Fortis Bank of Belgium. Fortis hopes to be allowed by the banking supervision authorities to acquire Dominet Bank on March 7th. After the merger planned in 2008, Jacek Oblekowski would become Fortis Bank Polska CEO. Jacek Bujak, the present CEO, would still be the member of the board of directors.
