The Poznań based Media Rodzina publishing house last year reported sales receipts of over PLN30m largely due to the success of the Harry Potter film which encouraged interest in the books. Sales in 2000 came to PLN6.3m. Media Rodzina has exclusive publishing rights for the Harry Potter books in this country.

Since 1999 the company has sold more than two million Harry Potter books, 1.5m of which were sold last year and accounted for 90 percent of the titles published by Media Rodzina.

Media Rodzina, which was founded in 1992 by American Robert Gamble, is hoping to publish the fifth Harry Potter book this year provided that it first appears in English.
