Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Today, not only buyers but also sellers were active in the Warsaw Stock Exchange. In effect, shares worth PLN 1.6 billion changed hands. The first minutes of trading were very good, the WIG20 index exceeded the level of 2,900 points for the first time in history. Zloty strengthened in reaction to the nomination of Zyta Gilowska as the Minister of Finance. However, the index ended at the lowest level possible – at 2,835.53 points, or 65 percent down.
KGHM copper producer was the worst performer among blue chips. Shares dropped 1.7 percent. PKN Orlen fuel giant was the best performer and added 1.6 percent. Thanks to higher oil prices, Grupa Lotos and MOL, the two other fuel companies in the WSE, rose.
Investors of companies connected with Ryszard Krauze businessman had a good day. Bioton insulin producer and Softbank IT company ended up, only Prokom fell but the decrease was minute. TVN media group fell 4 percent. Among smaller companies, those connected with Roman Karkosik were doing well, including Skotan, Alchemia, Boryszew and Impexmetal. Skotan jumped over 21 percent. Mostostal Warszawa construction company rose for the tenth consecutive day after the company had said it had signed many big contracts.
