Chemical concern Boryszew is faced with a difficult problem. It recently acquired a large stake in Torun based Elana with the hope of increasing production of thoses polimers needed for plastic bottle (PET) production. Elana is the only producer of these polimers in Poland and has a forty percent stake of the domestic market. Despite clear growth prospects Boryszew is now reconsidering its investment plans.

The Korean SK Global and SK Chemicals have announced that they intend to open a polymer production line in land belonging to chemical concern Anwil in Włocławek. A joint venture contract was signed in Seoul last month.

Sławomir Masiuk, MD of Boryszew, has reason to feel put out. When he bought shares in Elana from the treasury he was promised that no foreign competitor would appear on the Polish market.
