Mid and small caps hit new records, blue chips do not attract much trade

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The first session of the week brought no breakthrough on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Blue chips attracted low trade. Small and mid-caps did much better, however.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The first session of the week brought no breakthrough on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Blue chips attracted low trade. Small and mid-caps did much better, however. 

The volume of trade amounted to PLN 1.45 billion, including only PLN 729m generated by blue chips. The ratio is usually much higher. KGHM copper producer and Pekao bank were the only blue chips to attract three-digit trade.  

WIG20 kept balancing in the range of 23 points. The 20 share blue chips index ended at 3,527.44 points, or 0.11 percent up. TVN media group changed most, however the stock dropped – 4.9 percent to PLN 26.25. GTC developer which did not manage to hit its record as of January 26th last Friday, today continued losses. The stock fell 3 percent to PLN 49.45. Two blue chips connected with Ryszard Krauze investor were among the best performers among giants today. Prokom IT company added 2.7 percent to PLN 169.5 while Bioton insulin producer 2.5 percent to PLN 2.05.  

MIDWIG hit its all-time record for the sixths straight day. It ended at 4,335.26 points, or 0.5 percent up. WIRR ended at its new record of 14,480.35 points. Hutmen, Lubawa and Boryszew influenced the indices most. They rose 4.2-7 percent.
