Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Heads of state-owned companies won’t rent a flat for more than PLN 2,000 (EUR 529.1) but the company will finance their university education.

The Ministry of the Treasury (MSP) closely watches the CEOs of the companies it controls. It is planning to change the ruling concerning list of additional payments in order to cut their expenditures for flat rent and business cars. The bill prepared by MSP limits the cost of flat renting for member of the board of state-owned companies living over 50km from the headquarters to PLN 2,000. It is possible to rent a good flat in Morag for this amount, for example, but not in Warsaw.

The ministry is also going to limit the monthly costs of business car used privately to PLN 5,000. The bill does not explain in detail what private use is, and whether, for example, it includes using company cars while traveling abroad.

“Limits like the ones are artificial. It’s not necessary to add them to the ruling. Competences here should belong to the supervisory board which knows the company well and consists of members of the ministry”, Grazyna Magdziak, Business Centre Club expert said.

MSP would like, however, to enable CEOs to have costs of trainings and university education, refunded.
“If it is connected with the company and will be profitable for it, it’s a good idea. I know cases, however, when a state-owned company paid for expensive MBA course in Switzerland for two years. This is a little bit too much”, Grazyna Magdziak believed.
