Ministry of Transport promises railway modernizations before 2012

Bad news for people traveling by rail from Warsaw to Gdansk. The train will go two hours longer then today. Good news is that after modernization, it will be much faster. The Ministry of Transport wants to modernize railways before EURO 2012.

“We will thoroughly modernize the route to Gdansk. In order to do it as quickly as possible, we will close it”, Mirolaw Chaberek, deputy Minister of Transport said.

Works may start in the middle of August. Procurement has been started to realize the project.

Till 2012, there are over 650 km of railways to be modernize connecting the cities where matches are to be played. Besides, the government would like to improve railway connections with Ukraine.
