Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Jerzy Szmajdziński, Polish minister of defence, said that new airport near Warsaw will be ready for regular operations in a few months. Tomorrow the aurhorities will set a new company that will be responsible for new facility.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Jerzy Szmajdziński, Polish minister of defence, said that new airport near Warsaw will be ready for regular operations in a few months. Tomorrow the aurhorities will set a new company that will be responsible for new facility.

Modlin is located about 35 km from Warsaw and, according to plan, to Modlin schould remove low- cost carriers, charters and cargo flights from Okęcie - central airport in Warsaw. It should offer lower charges for airlines and allow flying at night.

At the moment, in Modlin exists old military airport without terminal for passengers and proper navigation system. The investment is said to amount to PLN 100milion (EUR 25million). This company will be ownned by Agency of Military Assets and state-owned Polish Aiports Company. It will deal with rebuilding of old military airport and accomoddate it to the civil needs. In the future it will be also the operator of this airport.
