Optimus not happy with e-shop

Optimus may pull out of internet shop eMarket according to unconfirmed information. On 15 October shareholders of the on line store will decide on its future. Optimus has a fifty percent stake in the shop alongside media company Polsat which claims it will continue with the investment.

Media giant ITI, owner of television channels TVN and TVN24 and which recently purchased the portal onet from Optimus, has already said that it is not interested in eMarket probably as Polsat is a competitor.

Capital of the store comes to PLN10.6m. Zygmunt Solorz, MD of Polsat says that he is prepared to put money into the venture which is now almost cash dry. eMarket was born in those far distant days at the beginning of last year when the internet was the flavour of the moment. Polsat was to provide the site with media promotion and access to digital platforms whilst Optimus was to be in charge of the technology and internet service.

The store is reporting losses despite an annual turnover of around PLN1m which is very high for this type of business.
