PKO BP and Pekao banks drag the Warsaw indices down

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – While on Wednesday it was banks which paced the advances of the WIG20 index and commodity companies which dragged it down, today both sectors were falling. The WIG20 lost 1.07 percent, but it was not very serious as the volume of trade amounted to PLN 648m only.

There were no fundamentals for the falls on the stock market. There were no macro data published today. The biggest banks including PKO BP and Pekao were the biggest anchors for WIG20 today. PKO BP shed 2.3 percent to PLN 37.6 while Pekao lost 2.1 percent to PLN 191. Both banks generated PLN 50m of trade. BRE Bank rose to its new record of PLN 232, 1.8 percent more than yesterday. Shares worth only PLN 9m changed hands, however.

Among small caps, Instal-Lublin jumped 43.8 percent to its all-time record of PLN 5.75. 747,600 shares changed hands, or 12.3 percent of the capital. The company said it had signed a contract with Michelin Polska worth PLN 9m to build pipelines from the present factory of the tire producer to a facility being built now. Instal Krakow rose for the fifth straight day to a record of PLN 14.65. The construction company signed a contract to modernize an office building in Katowice with energy company PKE. The agreement is worth PLN 24.1m. ATM bet its record for the second consecutive day. The stock advanced to PLN 105. Nearly two years ago when the company was first listed, the stock cost PLN 22, or 377 percent less. The company plans to raise PLN 150 on the stock market in the fourth quarter. The funds will be spent on acquisitions. Next year, the firm plans to at least double sales.
