Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Lactalis, French diary giant with sales amounting go EUR 5.5 billion, bought a majority stake of Kurow, a small milk producer, whose yearly milk production amounts to 15 million litres. The company will focus on cream and cottage cheese production. Kurow does not fulfil all EU norms. Piotr Walczak, Lactalis Polska CEO said that till May 2005 the plant would be modernised and increase milk acquisition.

The acquisition of Kurow is part of a larger programme started by Lactalis. The French giant has bought seven other milk plants in the East. The joint sales of the acquired plants exceed USD 60 million (EUR 44.6 million).

Kurow is the second Polish plant bought by Lactalis. In 1996, the French company bought Polser from Siemiatycze. It has invested EUR 20 million since then, and today the company is one of the largest Polish cheese producers.
