The government changes its plans concerning the implementation of the euro. Yesterday, at the meeting of the Prime Minister, minister of finance and the Monetary Policy Council, it was agreed that Poland will become member of the EMU in 2012, and not in 2011 as PM Tusk had said before.
“In 2011 we should meet all the economic criteria allowing Poland to adopt the euro. This should also be the year when positive decision is made by the EU”, Donald Tusk said yesterday.
“This means that it’s very probable that Poland will adopt euro in 2012”, Lukasz Tarnawa, PKO BP analyst commented.
In addition, Eurostat said yesterday that the average inflation index in
Poland amounted to 4.1 percent in the last 12 months. This is exactly the level
required by the EU.
