Shareholders meeting of polish stock exchange (GPW) chose the new president of the company. Ludwik Sobolewski, that was proposed by Board of Sock Exchange got 99,99 percent of votes. There were 12 candidates, at the short lists remained 7 out of them.

The new chief of stock exchange has been a vicepresident of KDPW since November 1994. In 1994 he was also an advisor of GPW’s management board.  He is a solicitor  and doctorate in low.

„That is the specialist with a vision, He is experienced and respectable person at the market. He is expert under whose control, the GPW should develop” Piotr Kamiński, president of Board of Sock Exchange said.

Wiesław Rozłucki, that finishes managing the GPW at the end of June, is also pleased.

“That is a good choice, I’m sure that  with his management, the stock will still develop and stay a leader in the region”, Wiesław Rozłucki, that lead the stock from the beginning, said.

Representatives of  broker’s offices also are optimistic about the future.

“The new president will assure that the company will develop”, Maria Dobrowolska, president of Chamber of Brokers’ House said.

The new president wants Warsaw to be a supraregional stock center. 

“In the course of my three-years cadency I would like to first of all take care of development chances, so that the GPW became over regional centre. I’m sure that such a chance exists. Equally important is to harmonize GPW with other European markets. It shouldn’t differ in case of standards, regulations and procedures” Ludwik Sobolewski said.

New president is against any alliances with other european stock exchanges. He don’t put any pressure of privatization, but not denied it.

“The changes should do in the direction of significant increase in shareholders structures of financial institution, but still taking into account the strategic goals of state. There should be no hurry”, new president said.

The first move of Ludwik Sobolewski will be the choice of vicepresidents.

“I will devote to it next two weeks. At the moment I have no candidates for this positions”, president said.
