Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – PPL, the state-owned airport company wants to manage airports, hotels and be commercialized.

This year, the future of PPL will be decided. The management of PPL has three months to present its strategy to the Ministry of Transport supervising the company. Pawel Latacz, PPL director, stressed that the strategy would be prepared anyway. The fundamentals of the strategy are ready. PPL would like to manage regional airports in Poland and abroad.

“We will try to convince the ministry that PPL is well suited to manage airports. The management is going to be divided from ownership according to the amendment of the aviation law. Some local authorities have already asked us to do it”, Pawel Latacz said.

He mentions airports in Babie Doly, Kielce or Lublin. PPL would be not only be the shareholder but also consultant, investor and the managing company. Today, PPL is both the owner and manager of the airports.

PPL has to look for income lost when the Aviation Agency was split from the company. The agency generates PLN 400m (EUR 102.4m) of sales. One of PPL’s ideas is to manage hotel chains located at the airports.

“We are getting ready to build another hotel in Warsaw. We are leading advanced talks in Krakow. We are interested in Poznan, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Rzeszow and Modlin”, Pawel Latacz explained.

In March, PPL is going to present the Ministry of Transport its idea of commercialization. The process would be launched as early as this year. In effect, decision making in PPL should be easier and quicker.
