Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Petrolinvest, a subsidiary of Prokom Investment, plans to acquire oil fields.

Ryszard Krauze, one of the richest Poles, and the co-owner of Prokom, Poland’s largest IT company and Bioton, the listed insulin producer, is going to invest in oil sector. According to “Puls Biznesu” sources, he plans to acquire stakes of companies exploring oil.

“There are different sites considered, including a former member of the Soviet Union. Negotiations are going on and should be concluded within two months. A complex fuel company is being planned which would import, sell and explore oil”, the source said.

Petrolinvest would invest in the projects. The company is one of Prokom Investments firms. The company would be listed in the future.

Ryszard Krauze did not confirm the news himself. Two other credible sources admitted that there are such plans.

“This is a very delicate issue. Until negotiations end we cannot say much more”, another source told “Puls Biznesu”.

An investment bank is coordinating the plans. The investment may result in capital changes in Prokom group or Bioton. Today, Petrolinvest is a medium-sized company from Gdynia, northern Poland. The company was founded in 1991. At first it focused on fuel imports and trade. Today, it also trades with liquid gas and oil.

Companies owned by Ryszard Krauze are doing extremely well. Bioton, which was listed in 2005, started with PLN 3 (EUR 0.7) a share. Today, the stock cost PLN 20. Prokom, whose founder and CEO is Ryszard Krauze, is Poland’s biggest IT company and the leader of a capital group consisting of listed IT companies, including Softbank, ABG, Comp, Spin.
