Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The leader of life insurance has finally managed to increase its market share. Now it wants to earn money in the healthcare sector.

PZU Zycie raised PLN 2.24bn in the first quarter. This is 24 percent more than a year ago.

“For the first time in the history, we managed to regain our market share. So far, it was believed that if PZU is so big, it must lose its market share. This management says: no”, Piotr Kuszewski, PZU Zycie deputy CEO said.

After the first quarter, PZU share in the market of live polices amounted to 30.9 percent. Before, the share kept falling. In 2003, it amounted to 47 percent and at the end of 2007 – 30 percent.

PZU is also going to increase its healthcare business. It wants to sell more hospital insurance polices.

“We are the leader here and we are not going to give up”, Piotr Kuszewski stressed.

The company wants to sell at least 30,000 polices annually. Their value amounts to PLN 50-190 per month, depending on sex and age.
