Qubus plans hotels
Qubus Hotel Holding currently owns two hotels in Poland, a four star facility in Gorzów Wielkopolski in the north west of the country and a three star hotel in Zielona Góra in the west. It hopes shortly to open four hotels in Lower Silesia. Steffen Okland, MD of Qubus Hotel Management says that the largest hotel will be in Legnica. The hotel will have more than 230 rooms and be more than 1,000sqm in size.
Apart from this four star hotel which will open in Legnica in February of next year, it is also redeveloping three star hotels in Głogów, Wałbrzych and Złotoryja. The latter will be opened next month.
The company has so far invested around PLN100m in Poland. The same amount again will be invested in the construction of new hotels in Warsaw and Kraków. Polski Qubus has already bought the land in these two cities. The four star Warsaw hotel will have 250 rooms and be built near the Skry stadium whilst the Kraków hotel will be in the same class but smaller with 200 rooms. It will be built in ulica Port Solne.
Qubus also won a tender to buy a building in Bytom which, once renovated, will also become a hotel. The group is also considering an investment in nearby Chorzów. Steffen Okland says that his company is choosing cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants although he does not know yet how many hotels will be built in this country.
