Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MSWiA) has invited IT companies to share their views over the new project – the registration system of ID cards, called PESEL2.
The tender to deliver this system will be announced soon. The biggest listed IT companies will take part in the tender including Prokom, Computerland, Emax and Comarch. The budget of the project exceeds PLN 200m (EUR 50.8m), including 25 percent of state funds and the rest from EU funds.
The ministry has invited IT companies to share their views concerning this project. Poland’s biggest firms will compete, including Prokom Group (Softbank, Spin, ABG) as well as Computerland, Emax and Comarch. HP, IBM or Siemens will probably also take part in thise tender, alone or in consortia with local players. Prokom and Softbank have been the most successful in recent years winning the project for Poczta Polska, PKO BP and CEPiK. HP on the other hand delivered the IACS system for farmers’ subsidies.
The modernization of the PESEL system is necessary because the data will be the major source of information for the Polish Schengen Information System (SIS) which will make it possible to abolish borders. According to the former plans over SIS implementation, the Polish SIS part will cost EUR 172m.
