Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Military Property Agency wants to conduct up to 1,700 internet auctions, which have so far been marginal in the Polish administration.
The state owned agency (AMW) responsible for shopping for the Ministry of Defence, has announced a tender to operate electronic auctions. According to the announcement, it may announce up to 1,700 such tenders within two years. In the year 2005, all administration departments announced only 85 e-auctions worth PLN 7.5m (EUR 1.9m) . AMW is the first government institution to announce so big plans of internet shopping. “Puls Biznesu” failed to learn what would be bought via this channel. However, it is possible that next to office equipment, the army may provide itself with clothes, shoes, computers or even army equipment.
“The agency has presented recently how weapons would be bought via electronic platform”, one of the people who took part in the presentation said.
It remains secret how much AMW is going to spend in the internet. In 2005, the average value of one transaction amounted to PLN 88,000. If it would be similarly with AMW, the value of 1,700 auctions would amount to PLN 150m.
There are several electronic trade platforms, including Marketplanet, Xtrade, e-przetarg.pl. Marketplanet arranged auctions worth PLN 1.4 billion till the end of 2005. Its biggest clients is possibly Telekomunikacja Polska telecom, who is its owner. The auction operators assure that the tenders are easy, transparent and first of all 10-15 percent cheaper. The administration may buy things in auctions if they are worth up to EUR 137,000 or 211,000.
“Earlier, the limit amounted to EUR 60,000 and you could order deliveries only. Now, it is possible to order services”, Anita Wichniak-Olczak, the spokeswoman of the Office of Public Tenders said.
