The WIG20 index loses 8.1 percent this week

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – On the last session of a bad week for Polish stock investors, the 20 share blue chips index opened 0.81 percent up but ended 0.7 percent lower at 3,031.52.

Two biggest banks were the anchors for the market during the day. PKO BP gained 2 percent but then fell to the previous level while Pekao ended 1.6 percent down. KGHM copper producer and PKN Orlen fuel giant were also dragging the market down. It was thanks to PKO BP that the market ended 20 points its daily minimum. Companies connected with Ryszard Krauze investor were the best performers. Softbank and Asseco IT companies jumped due to their planned merger. Prokom, which will have a stake in the new entity (in exchange for its stock of the Czech PVT) also ended up. Bioton insulin producer continued advances.

 

Budimex construction company gained 8 percent after its subsidy Budimex-Dromex won the tender to reconstruct a palace in Warsaw for PLN 200m. Moreover, Budimex is going to regain USD 5.9m of ownings for its contracts in Libya ended several years ago.
