Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – There are so many funds in Poland that it’s getting hard to choose the proper one.

69 funds were founded in 2006 and 50 in the first half of this year making it 300 investment funds operating in Poland.

“This is because companies compete. The value of the assets is growing, which is a good sign showing that funds are effective”, Marcin Dyl, the CEO of IZFiA, a chamber comprising funds, commented.

“The number makes it possible for a middle-level investor to understand the market but it may become more difficult in the future. In two years, we may have even 500 funds”, Grzegorz Raupuk from Analizy Online said.

This is only the number of Polish funds. There are several hundreds foreign funds registered in Poland.

“Such a quick growth of the number of funds may adversely affect investors in a longer term. Their knowledge, and the knowledge of the distributors, may turn out to be too small to make the proper choice”, Tomasz Jedrzejczak, Legg Mason TFI CEO said.

Some funds are afraid that the market may be overheated.

“We won’t develop the offer so fast. In the second half of the year, we will launch one-two new funds”, Sebastian Buczek, ING TFI CEO added.

Pioneer Pekao TFI, the market leader, on the other hand, said it would launch several funds this year.
