Today is the deadline to submit initial offers to privatize Stocznia Gdynia shipyard. On Monday, it will turn out, who is going to submit official offers. Zlomrex is one of the companies. So far, Zlomrex has been mentioned as potential investor for Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa shipyard. Because the process is going on very slowly, the company got interested in Gdynia.
“I will submit an offer”, Przemyslaw Sztuczkowski, Zlomrex CEO said.
“There are also Koreans interested in the shipyard. They may submit an offer as well”, a company close to negotiations told “PB”.
He mentions Korean-Chinese steel and shipyard group called Seven Mountain, today C&Group. It would be very unusual if the company won as so far European shipyards have competed with Asian rivals. Another candidate to buy Gdynia shipyard is Rami Ungar, Israeli entrepreneur, and the shipyard’s client.
The new investor is supposed to buy 33 percent in the shipyard from the state. He can also buy nearly 20 percent from state-owned agencies. Then, the state will increase the shipyard’s capital by PLN 500m (EUR 132m) with the stock of listed companies. Gdynia will thus be able to pay back its debts against tax authorities and social insurance company. In the next stage, the investor will invest PLN 500m in the shipyard and regain control over it. Till the middle of next year, the shipyard should again be in private hands.
