Vivendi looks to be number two

Michel Picot of Vivendi Universal and the deputy head of the advisory board at Elektrim says in an interview in today’s Puls Biznesu that he believes that his company beat Deutsche Telekom in the race for Elektrim's telecommunications assets because it was more elastic. He says that DT is heavily bureaucratic and the decision making process was a long one. Furthermore DT is heavily in debt to the tune of EUR70bn and therefore were not in a position to offer more money.

Picot believes that Elektrim has a good chance of getting the number two slot in the telecommunications league. He believes that regulators in this country have done a lot to defend the interests of TPSA and indeed that too many telecoms concessions have been given so that the competition to the former monopoly operator is likely to be weak.
