Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Although wages and employment rate keep growing, there is no need to raise interest rates.

The average wage in September 2006 amounted to PLN 2,611.16 (EUR 671.1), the central statistical office GUS said. This is 5.1 percent more than in a year ago and the same as in August.

“The wages were a little bit lower than expected because the bonuses paid out were not that big. But wages and employment keep growing and stimulate the demand”, Karolina Sedzimir-Domanowska, Bank PKO BP economist commented.

In her opinion, the inflationary pressure is not big and the Monetary Policy Council will not raise interest rates at its next meeting.

According to GUS, 4.957m people were employed in September, or 3.5 percent more than a year ago and 0.3 percent more than in August.
