WIG20 exceeds 3,000 points, advances paced by banks

The WIG20 index ended up on Thursday after very good trading day in the USA on Wednesday and increases noted all over Europe.

The 20 share blue chips index rose 3.75 percent to 3,045.11 points. Banks paced the advances with BZ WBK and PKO BP being the best performers with 6.9 (to PLN 193.5) and 6.3 percent (PLN 39) increases respectively. Pekao gained 4.9 percent to PLN 202.5. Investors did not follow the recommendations of CA IB which discouraged from investing in the banking sector.

CA IB analysts said that growing interest rates may adversely affect further growth of bank stock. Bank Millennium was the only financial institution to receive the ‘buy’ recommendation. However, Boguslaw Kott, its CEO, said today that second half results would be worse due to the costs of expansion. KGHM copper producer attracted most trade: shares worth PLN 263m changed hands, the stock added 3.2 percent to PLN 114. Shares of blue chips worth over PLN 1 billion changed hands while it was below PLN 500m yesterday.

Inwest Consulting had a good debut. The stock opened 236 percent up at PLN 12.6 and ended 481.3 percent up at PLN 21.8. Lubawa, the producer of army equipment rose on the news its subsidiary (50 percent) Prymus had PLN 5.69m of net income. Polimex-Mostostal Siedlce bet its all-time record for the second straight day and ended at PLN 105.
