Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The 20 share blue chips index ended the day 0.42 down after increases noted last Friday. However, today’s session cannot be viewed as a sign of a trend. The volume of trade was very low. Shares of blue chips worth PLN 681m changed hands, the lowest level since April 3. The stock exchanges in the USA and UK were closed due to holidays. The WIG20 index ended at 2,687.85.
PKN Orlen fuel giant continued attracting most attention after the company had signed agreement to buy Mozeiki refinery. The transaction will be worth USD 2.8 billion. The Polish firm is going to additionally invest USD 720-950m to modernize the Lithuanian company. In short term this means no dividend, in longer term – strategic synergies.Bioton insulin producer attracted most trade – shares worth PLN 213m changed hands, nearly the same level as noted by KGHM and PKN Orlen stock jointly. However, the stock fell 5.1 percent to PLN 31.10. Pekao bank fell 3.2 percent. PKO BP also ended down.
Among smaller companies, Elektrim telecommunication and energy company jumped in the last minutes of trading. Stalexport was growing on the news that the company had signed a favorable agreement connected with its guarantees for WRJ pipe producer. Computerland IT company gained on news it is to merge with Emax.
