Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The WIG20 index shed 0.41 percent, not much taking into account the fact that the Wall Street had lost 2.6 percent on Friday and opened down today.

There are two reasons for relatively good session in Warsaw. First of all, the 20 share blue chips index had dived 2 percent last Thursday, before the US markets did. Besides, the victory of the Citizen’s Platform (PO) in parliamentary elections was welcomed by investors as the party is believed to be market-friendly.  Agora media group was among the best performers among blue chips. The publisher of “Gazeta Wyborcza” daily added 3.7 percent continuing its Friday rebound. In the beginning of last week, its shares dropped on the launch of a new daily, “Polska” which, however, turned out to be no threat to existing titles. It was mainly thanks to TP telecom that the WIG20 index did not dive further. The telecom rose 1.4 percent to PLN 22.2, the highest level in the last month. PKN Orlen fuel giant on the other hand lost 2.1 percent on falling oil prices.

It was a bad day for companies connected with Ryszard Krauze investor. As many as three of them were among five worst blue chips today, including Polnord (minus 3.1 percent), Bioton and Prokom. Petrolinvest oil exploration company on the other hand jumped 8 percent. The latter, however, is not a blue chip.
