Good news from U.S. markets where falls stopped was good news. The indices would have grown higher hadn’t it been for KGHM copper producer which lost over 3 percent along with copper prices. The advances were paced by the banking sector. Pekao, PKO BP and BRE all gained over 3-5 percent. TVN media group, Prokom IT company and Orbis hotel operator also noted substantial gains.

TP telecom, Agora media group and Lotos fuel company were among today’s losers. Among small and medium-sized companies, Capital and Elektrim were the best performers while Arksteel and Nafta were the worst performers.
