Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, the well-known businessman who owns Polsat television broadcaster, is going to implement contract with Axel Springer. His company will be listed in 2008. He eyes TV4 television.

Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, one of the richest Poles, has recently acquired TV Biznes. After the IPO of Polsat TV broadcaster planned in 2008, the businessman will probably focus on TV4. Today, Zygmunt Solorz-Zak denies any connections with TV4 owned by Polskie Media, a company controlled by Rexon Overseas, a company registered in Cyprus connected with Andrzej Kucharski, his partner.

“I can confirm that we are interested in TV4 but the acquisition is not possible before Polsat’s IPO because financial reports would have to be conducted again. I could see TV4 as a broadcasting network in big cities. It would fill in Polsat’s offer”, Zygmunt Solorz-Zak said.

For the time being, he is busy with the contract with German Axel Springer concerning the sale of 25 percent plus one share of Polsat. The Office for Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) decided earlier that the transaction would give the Germans control over Polsat. The office may fine the partners.

“I believe UOKiK decision has no reasons but I cannot risk. That’s why we have to negotiate with Axel to give up some of the provisions. If we are to finalize it, we need to exclude solutions which would become a pretext for UOKiK”, Zygmunt Solorz-Zak added.

He is not going to renegotiate the price and he is not going to withdraw from the contract as some media had speculated. He explained that the only reason talks are not intense are summer holidays.
