Węglokoks, coal exporter from Katowice, the owner of 42 percent of  Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze (GTL), that manages the airport in Pyrzowice, will sell the shares.

Węglokoks, coal exporter from Katowice, the owner of 42 percent of  Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze (GTL), that manages the airport in Pyrzowice, will sell the shares.

“We treat GTL’s share as a capital investment. Last year we expand our pack. We will sell it at the moment when there will be some new opportunity to invest in coal or mine sector”, Michał Sobel, Węglokoks CEO said.

Sale of Węglokoks shares could take place at the and of the year the earliest. The question is who will buy it and the price.

Węglokoks should not have any “political” problems in sale of GTL shares. Particularly when Paweł Poncyljusz, viceminister responsible for coal sector is a votary for such a solution. Sobel suggests, that shares could buy the śląskie voivodeship, that at the moment owns 39 percent of GTL’s shares.

„Management of śląskie voivodship will still support GTL by rising capital of the airport and purchase of new shares. As an example could be the purchase of ground from Agency of Military Property, that was in the next step given to GTL. We do not plan to buy shares from Węglokoks”, Marian Jarosz, vice marshal of śląskie voivodship said.

However, according to the changed status of GTL, the management of voivodship should own at least 51 percent shares in the airport.

GTL could be very attractive for the investors. The number of serviced passengers is still rising. In 2004 r. the airport serviced 622 thousand passengers, last year more than million. That has a reflexion in financial results. In 2005 it had PLN 5.2 m (EUR 1.36m)

net income, in 2004 PLN 2.9m. GTL Has also large plan of investments. Spendings should reach PLN 50 m.
