Azoty Tarnow chemical producer needs more electric energy. The company is looking for partners to build a heat power plant with 200MW of capacity. According to “PB” estimates the project is worth PLN 1bn (EUR 301m). PGNiG gas monopoly and Enion, part of Tauron group, are interested in this project.
“For several years already we have been planning to develop our capacity as far as energy is concerned. The present plant meets 60 percent of our needs. We would like to produce 100 percent of energy we need. We could also deliver energy and heat to Tarnow city”, Jerzy Majchrzak, Azoty Tarnow CEO said.
Tarnow has raised PLN 295m on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. PGNiG bought a stake, too. The company could deliver natural gas for the heat power plant. PGNiG has recently said it would like to build a chemical and energy group. Chemical producers, including Tarnow, ZA Kedzierzyn or ZA Pulawy are the biggest gas buyers using 2.5bn cubic meters of gas annually (as compared to 14bn cubic meters of gas used in Poland). On July 31st, PGNiG will make decision during its GSM whether to buy 10 percent of Azoty shares worth PLN 78m.
