Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – British Telecom invested in Poland EUR 10m and it could doubled it. Company wants to create in Poland marketing centre for the region.
BT, one of the biggest player at the world telecommunication market, is present at the polish market since 2004. British operator has already invested in Poland EUR 10m.
“We want to double this amount during next 2-3 years. But they are only approximate estimation”, Olivier Campenon, vice president of BT International responsible for the region said.
Spendings will be mainly devoted to infrastructure development. It is relatively small amount, concerning that one of the biggest world telecommunication operators, announced investment of GBP 10bn for modernization of world telecommunication network. But BT in Poland operates a niche.
„We are concentrated on servicing international movements of big companies. Our market differs significantly from that of polish telecommunication companies such as Netia”, Olivier Campenon said.
Operator offers its services to 200 clients in Poland. Many of these contracts are connected to the international agreements signed by BT headquarter. As an example could be given the agreement with Italian Fiat. In world scale it was worth EUR 450m. The worth of contract to be realized in Poland is worth EUR 6m.
“This agreement could be the base of our further development in Poland”, Olivier Campenon said.
Another one signal of bigger and bigger presence of BT in Poland, could be the plan to open in its structures, a marketing centre for the Central and Eastern Europe.
“We do not know yet what will be the scale of this center’s activity. At the moment we are recruiting the director of that”, Olivier Campenon said.
BT employees in Poland 70 people, mainly in technical and sales department.
“This year we could double the number of employees”, Olivier Campenon said.
Operator plans to attract clients from banking, oil and producing sector and win contracts from government sector.
“We are interesting in cooperation with companies from the group of 50 biggest enterprises in Poland”, Olivier Campenon said.
