Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Companies delivering equipment for the Polish army submitted in the Ministry of Economy their reports till the middle of 2005. The deliverers include U.S. Lockheed Martin (LM), which delivered F-16, Finnish Patria and Italian Oto Melara (both delivered armoured wheeled vehicles) and Israeli Rafael, the producer of Spike rockets. These companies claim to have realise offset investment programmes worth USD 2.53 billion (EUR 2.1 billion) and EUR 396m.
“LM counted to have realised USD 2.35 billion of projects”, Krzysztof Krystowski, deputy Minister of Economy said. The Ministry approved of projects worth PLN 1.96 billion. According to the agreement, LM is to implement projects worth USD 6 billion. Patria and Oto Melara are responsible for EUR 790m of projects.
Patria claims to have implemented EUR 300m of projects while Oto Melar – for EUR 76.7m. The ministry approved of, respectively, EUR 75m and EUR 19.7m. Rafael has no verified programmes as yet although the company wrote in a report that its projects are worth USD 51.2m. According to the agreement, Rafael was to buy two ships in Stocznia Gdynia for USD 33m. “The project has not been launched in due time. We want Rafael to withdraw from offset agreements in Stocznia Gdynia and substitue it with another project”, Wojciech Kade from the Ministry of Economy said.(USD 1 = EUR 0.818)
