Ciech, one of leading listed chemical producers, has problems with its Romanian company. In 2006, it bought from state agency AVAS and Begacom group a 93.1 percent stake of US Govora soda producer. Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Limited of India lost the battle. Now, the Hindu company wants the transaction to be cancelled and has filed a suit at the court.
“We learnt about it from US Govora. The suit was not delivered to Ciech officially. The court proceeding was delayed till September 24th. We believe that the Romanian court will reject the suit”, Kazimierz Przelomski, Ciech group financial director said.
Ciech’s stake was registered on December 4th 2006. Ciech has already started negotiations with the Hindu company.
