Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Hankook Tire, the Korean tyre producer who re-started negotiations with Poland after troubles with public subsidies in Slovakia appeared, must make its mind concerning the investment in Poland till the end of August.

“The investor has once chosen Slovakia over Poland. The Polish investment agency PAIIZ initiated new talks and we were ready to sign agreement in a week but Hankook is making things longer. We have offered two sites – in Dolny Slaska and Gorzow Wielkopolski. We have raised our offer. Unless Hankook makes decision this month, the agency may break the talks”, Sebastian Mikosz, PAIIZ deputy CEO warned.

He refused to give details of the offer. Before, PAIIZ proposed a site in Kobierzyce. Unofficial sources say that Poland offered public subsidies of EUR 104m, including EUR 4m in cash. Hankook chose Slovakia, which offered subsidies of 21 percent of the investment – EUR 105m, including EUR 12m in cash. Hankook Tire wants to employ 2,000 people and invest EUR 500m.
