Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Only eight offers have been submitted in the tender to deliver nearly 70,000 computers for schools. There are eight regions covered by the tender, which means that two companies submitted their offers for each region. In each region, another computer brand was offered. This means that contracts will be nearly evenly divided between four PC deliverers: Action, NTT, Optimus and Incom. The listed IT companies ABG Ster-Projekt, Comarch, Computerland and Emax will have PLN 60m (EUR 14.8m) of additional sales each. The contracts have to be realised this year or EU funds will be lost.
Tenders will end unless they are protested as was the case several times before. HP and Dell’s equipment has been offered by some of the companies. In two regions, AMD processors have been proposed, while in two others – Intel processors. All the facts show that the companies have agreed not to submit offers in all parts of the tender as they did before. “The orders are so big that one deliverer would not manage to realise all of them in such a short notice. We had to choose the region where we have the biggest chances to win”, one of the deliverers explained. “The agreements must be signed in September at the latest, and still it will be difficult to realise it”, another deliverer commented.
Current tenders amount to PLN 250m. The Ministry of Education has PLN 1.3 billion to spend till the end of 2006 for IT projects for schools.
