Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Electric car producer who several years ago went bankrupt, is increasing sales.

Melex went bankrupt in 2004. It was sold to Dorota and Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, the FSO car plant director in 1990ies. Melex A&D Tyszkiewicz has been since doing well.

“This year, we will have sold 1,100 vehicles, or 200 more than in 2006. We want to increase sales by 20-30 percent annually. Our income is not big but stable. Every year, we have several hundred thousand zloty of net income”, Maciej Motelski, Melex managing director said.

Melex sells 70 percent of its capacity abroad to Europe, Argentina, Egypt and Australia.

“Woodsmen, huntsmen, army, hospitals, growers or hotel owners buy our vehicles. Only 10 percent of production constitute golfer cars but the competition in this segment is the strongest”, Maciej Motelski explained.

The advantage of Melex cars consists in cheap exploitation. In order to charge a vehicle to go 60-80km, one needs to spend PLN 8 (EUR 2.1).
