Rail carrier PKP sold around PLN60m of debts owed by steel maker Huta Katowice just before a steel reform act which provided a legal framework for resolving these problems. The debts were sold to Inkasso Reform which was able to come to a deal with the steel works but only after Huta Katowice appealed to the government for aid. In the meantime the bank account of Huta Katowice has been unblocked and the steel mill can pay its work force.
