Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – In the near future, the privatisation projects of PKO BP, Poland’s largest bank by deposits, and WSiP, the country’s biggest educational publisher, will be submitted to the Parliament, Prime Minister Marek Belka said.
Last Friday, Sejm, the lower house of the Polish Parliament, decided that privatisation processes of strategic companies, including PKO BP and WSiP, had to be stopped until receiving its approval. ‘We are going to implement our targets in hope that the data given to Sejm will create positive atmosphere for these operations’, Marek Belka said.
The Treasury Ministry plans the IPO of PKO BP on November 5th. The sale of a 30-percent stake should bring the budget PLN 5-6 billion (EUR 1.1-1.4 billion).
