Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The U.S. giant will get a subsidy to employ 80 engineers in Krakow and some 200 people in Wroclaw. That’s just for the start.

On Monday, a government committee allocated a grant for Google. It turned out that the company does not only consider an R&D center in Krakow.

“There are two projects mentioned. The R&D center in Krakow, which has already been launched and a service center in Wroclaw”, a person who took part in negotiations revealed.

“PB” confirmed the news in three independent sources. The company may receive subsidy to employ 80 engineers in its R&D center in Krakow (the Polish government offers up to EUR 5,000 per one person) and 200 people in its innovation center. The R&D project in Krakow was announced by the company several months ago.

“And the center is already operating. However, there were no surfaces in Krakow, 2,000-3,000 square meters at the beginning available quickly. That’s why Google chose Wroclaw for this project”, one of “PB” sources said.

“It’s not the lack of offices. People from Google saw Wroclaw and decided they have to be here. An innovation center will be launched here where different analyses will be conducted. It is going to be the second largest in Europe, after the one in Dublin”, a high-ranked politician revealed.

The center in Dublin employed 800 several months ago and last year, Google decided to employ 500 more people. This means that the Wroclaw center may also employ above 1,000 people in the future.

In the Krakow center, there are several people employed today but more employees have been interviewed and will soon sign contracts. Polish IT workers earn about PLN 8,000 (EUR 2,000) in Krakow. Google promises to employ as many of them as possible. According to unofficial sources, there may be 250 of them in the future. The Krakow center is Google’s tenth in Europe.
