Gdy w języku angielskim również chcemy podkreślić tymczasowość stanowiska – wynikającą na przykład z rozpoczętego procesu rekrutacji – użyjemy słówka „acting”, np.
acting CEO – p.o. prezesa
acting director – p.o. dyrektora
Przykłady zdań:
1) He'll be the acting director until they can appoint a permanent one. (=będzie pełnił obowiązki dyrektora…)
2) The Marketing Director took the position of acting sales manager, restructured the sales force and instituted professional systems for forecasting.
