The WIG20 index opened up, similarly to its European peers. An hour later it was trading close to 1,800 points and it stayed at this level till closing. The 20 share blue chips index rose 1.6 percent. The volume of trade was very low, however. Shares worth only PLN 0.5bn changed hands.
GTC construction company jumped 6.6 percent for the best blue chip. Bioton
insulin producer grew 5.3 percent. Pekao bank paced the advances with 2.9
percent increase. KGHM copper producer added 2 percent on growing copper prices.
Out of small and mid-caps, Mirbud was the best performer. The company which had
its debut today, jumped 148 percent to PLN 2.5. Petrolinvest oil company whose
main shareholder is Ryszard Krauze, gained 20 percent on growing oil prices.
