Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The start of Superstacja tabloid TV broadcaster will probably be postponed for the fourth time. The employees are on vacations, there is no investor nor the satellite agreement.
Ryszard Krajewski businessman is going to launch Superstacja. Today, the businessman has his own TV studio where programs for TVP public broadcaster and TVN private television are made. Ryszard Krajewski has been trying to launch a TV for a year. First, the broadcaster was planned to start operations in November 2005, then in March 2006 and in June 2006. The newest date is September 1. However, it looks very improbable.
“Since August 1, all journalists were made to go on holidays. We do not receive wages for the vacations. We were told about it on July 29th. The holidays were supposed to last 2-3 weeks but people do not believe it. The majority of us are not from Warsaw, we are young and have no funds to survive”, one of the employees said.
According to unofficial sources, after a year of financing his television which generated no income, Ryszard Krajewski has run out of the money. Superstacja held talks with Polsat, the private TV broadcaster owned by Zygmunt Solorz. With no results. Ryszard Krajewski has also tried to lure ITI, the owner of TVN.
“We met once. With no results”, Anna Czerniejewska, ITI spokeswoman said.
On July 28th, anonymous investors appeared in Superstacja. A day later, journalists were sent for vacations.
The company has also problems with broadcasting. It has not signed an agreement with any satellite operator. Talks are going on with TVP which would give it some place on Astra satellite.
“We have received a motion with a question whether Superstacja signal could be transmitted via Astra. We have to think it over thoroughly. TVP has a mission to fulfill while Superstacja program has not much to do with mission”, Katarzyna Twardowska from TP press office said.
The new television will not be in the offer of Cyfrowy Polsat.
“We are talking with several channels. If Supestacja launches in September, it won’t be included in our offer”, Olga Zomer, Cyfrowy Polsat spokeswoman said.
In fall the digital platform of ITI group is going to be launched however there is no place for Superstacja there as well.
There are also problems with cable television networks. Superstacja will not be part of Multimedia Polska offer. Multimedia has 500,000 subscribers.
“There is a problem. Cable networks do not have space for new channels. So the new broadcaster will not be available in all cable TVs, which means that it will be difficult to reach a daily audience of 100,000 people, and this the level Mr. Krajewski planned to reach”, Piotr Bienko from MPG media house said.
He added, however, that there are chances that Superstacja is successful.
Ryszard Krajewski refused to comment. He asked to be contacted on September 1st.
