Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Ministry of the Treasury will probably appeal from the court’s decision concerning PAK power plants.

No final decision has been made yet by the Ministry of the Treasury concerning Patnow-Adamow-Konin power plants. Last week, the court said that the ministry should ask the government what to do with the remaining stake Elektrim company wants to buy from the state.

“We don’t agree with court’s decision and we may appeal. Elektrim is not able to buy PAK from us in its present situation. In this situation, how could we ask the government to consent for this transaction”, Jan Bury, deputy Minister of the Treasury wondered.

He added that the Ministry will do what it is ordered but Elektrim may wait for a long time before it manages to take full control over the power plants.

“The previous government agreed to merge the coal mines working for PAK with Enea but it hasn’t happened yet”, Jan Bury stressed.

The Cabinet may not agree to sell further stake of PAK to Electrim. Then, according to the privatization contract, the state should list the power plants. Elektrim could buy the shares then. Meanwhile, the Ministry of the Treasury, still hopes to reach agreement with Elektrim.
