“We had to revise the commercial revenues down. We will consider we are successful if we keep the commercial revenues growth dynamics at the market rates”, Andrzej Urbanski, TVP CEO said.
He refuses to give numbers. TVP had planned to earn
PLN 1.3bn (EUR 345.7m), or 8 percent more than last year. The forecasts for the
whole market amount to 10 percent growth. Now, Starlink company expects 14-15
percent growth.
“I can’t remember public television to have as bad year as
far as programming is concerned. Advertisers are still pretty much interested in
the company but not as much as in recent years”, Piotr Pietka, sales director at
Starcom media house commented.
Since Nina Terentiew left TVP for Polsat, TVP2 lost 4 percent of its viewers. So did the first program of the public TV broadcaster.
“After Nina Terentiew left, TVP has no visionary. It should find or train a specialist who will be able to make good program decisions”, Krzysztof Szumski from Zenith Optimedia media house said.
The atmosphere is bad. No one remembers TVP to be so much dependent on politicians.
Despite bad results, Andrzej Urbanski is optimistic. He wants TVP to increase its commercials market share by 4 percentage points within 12 months.
“The target is 50 percent of viewers for all TVP channels seven days a week. So far, we have managed to do it on certain days only”, TVP CEO said.
He believes that expensive new programs criticized by analysts will help the company as well as TVP Info, a new news channel which is supposed to increase the number of viewers by 3 percentage points, up from 6-7 percent of the market today.
